"True Thamie, actually Matlaba came in at the right time for me. But he and GCaba couldn't complement each other, basically Matlaba should cut in and Gcaba provide option on the wing when Pirates attack. Majoro shuld have come in earliar not…"

"People who are blaming VV for playing Gcaba at left back are overlooking a simple fact. Jele normally provides extra height when defending set pieces, he was injured, the next solution was Gcaba and could not be left out. Matlaba was the casualty at…"

"Matlaba is the best player at Bucs, for VV to say he didnt play him because he is too short is not on. His arrogancy is starting to show...watch this space."

The PSL need to step up

KickOff.com editor Ryan Cooper wonders why the PSL would ban Morgan Gould for two matches for a punch and Mabhuti Khenyeza 12 months for spitting near someone ...

I think new (ish) Premier Soccer League CEO Brand de Villiers will be the first to admit that his first four or so months in the hotseat…

So who’s next to steer Pirates’ ship?

Orlando Pirates finally parted ways with their Brazilian coach Julio Leal yesterday, putting to an end another strange chapter in the recent history of coaches at the club.

The former AmaZulu and Moroka Swallows mentor was suspended on March 12 after he bizarrely said “he could not see…

Pitch and staff a big disappointment

As I’m sitting in my hotel room in Port Elizabeth, having missed my early morning flight, I’m left to reflect on my experience at the Last 16 match between Uruguay and Korea Republic at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium yesterday.

Now, my lack of direction notwithstanding as I got lost a couple of times with all these forks in the road, I had two bad experiences of the match.

Firstly was the state of the pitch at the stadium. I… Continue

Is Parreira’s mind made up?

So how settled is Carlos Alberto Parreira on his starting line-up for the Mexico onslaught?

I’d say right now, ahead of the game against Denmark on the weekend, that the Brazilian is very close to knowing what to do come that absolutely magical Friday on June 11.

His biggest headache is who to pick between the posts. While Itumeleng Khune has done no wrong, his injury against Colombia paved the way for Moeneeb Josephs to… Continue

Who Parreira is likely to drop…

We all want certain players to be dropped from the Bafana Bafana’s provisional squad, yet the reality is it is Carlos Alberto Parreira’s decision.

However, based on what’s been going down in camp, either friendlies or hints at press conferences from the Brazilian, you could ascertain who will be axed.

In the goalkeeping department Itumeleng Khune and Moeneeb Josephs pick themselves. Rowen Fernandez and Shu-Aib Walters will slug it out for the third spot, and it is unlikely… Continue
