Team KICK OFF

After 3 games the season is taking shape, obviously it is a marathon and teams have to pace themselves. This is how is see this season panning out

Title Contenders:

Mamelodi Sundowns - they have all the ingridients of title winning side. The current slump may prove to be a blessing in disguise unlike in the past where the hit the slump mid season after a good start. As soon as they recover their momentum will carry them through. The worst mistake that they could do will be to fire Neeskens. Teko Modise is getting back to something that look like his best and Edward Manqele is carrying on the form that got him purchased.

Kaizer Chiefs - They are a team that thrives on confidence. The early season form may build the fickle supporters confidence and scare the daylights out of some opposition. A confident and on form Chiefs is guaranteed atleast a point from many games. If they reach the long Afcon break with the current form then they will have set themselves up for a confortable run in. Their defence will and should win them the title.

Orlando Pirates - This is a team in transition and depending on how quickly they settle into the new approach and coach, they may have a frustrating season. Benni Mccarthy and Tiko Okonkwo s' experience will be vital to help the other guys and boast their confidence.

Dark Horses

SSU - Once again they have a squad of workaholics and a coach that knows how to win the title. Their downfall may be their defence that have to function without their previous captain and also the inexperieced but talented keeper that is going into the challenging second season. Thabiso Nkoana, Bevan Fransman and George Maluleke will be very key.

Also rans:

Moroka Swallows - They over achieved last season, they will be around again this season, but their hidden purse tendencies may haunt them later in the season. Lerato Chabangu and Katlego Mashego will star for them this season

Bidvest Wits - They have bought very well and will be functioning away from the media glare. Their experience will carry them through but will not be enough to to carry them to the podium. Calvin Kadi and Sbu Khumalo should star for them

FSS - They are good start is belying the carcass of the squad that they are let with. If Steve Khompela keeps them in the top 8, then it will be a great achievement. Kennedy Mweene and the unknown Luyolo Nomandela will be very key.

Strugglers :

Celtic : They are a shadow of what they are supposed to be, the trip to Seisa is not as intimidating anymore and the unsettled technical team suggests that they will struggle. Lack of any star quality in very apparent. Patrick Tyinemg and Letladi Madubanya will be key again this season.

Maritzburg United - They had a positive start, but they have a very thin squad, that is very weak in defence, they should be happy with a midtable finish. Delron Buckley and Cuthbert Malajila are the likely stars.

Black Leopards - Their african safari experience is proving very helpful. They need to sort out their goalkeeping department. Like MU they will garner enough points to avoid the relegation dogfight.

Platinum Stars - This is a season where they were supposed to build on the last season s momentum, but once again they were very quiet on the transfer market. Benson Mhlongo s industry and experience together with the fast maturing tight Malongoane should make for a comfortable finish.

Ajax - The timing of their latest transfers suggests that they are an unsettled team, their season will not be any better than the last. Captain Grenwald Scott and the upcoming Keagan Dooley will stabilise them. Bradley Grobler will score enough goals to keep them safe

TUKS - This is a seson for them to stabilise and settle in the top division. They have retained the same squad and added a few experience journeymen. David Radebe s work ethic and Thokozani Sekotlong s finishing will shock a few teams.

Relegation Bun Fight

Amazulu - They have a painful lack of ambition, and should have gone shopping for a coach as soon as the whistle blew to close last season. Their squad is devoid of any inspiration. Kagiso Senamela and Goodman Dlamini will carry the whole load.

Golden Arrows - Like thier neighbours they seem happy to just exist and be the dumping ground of other teams. Muhshin will walk the plank soon. In Keita, Bilankulu and Khuboni they have a good spine, but they have obvious lack of support from other squad members.

Chippa United - The owner has read too many novels or he believes too much in the fairytale of his life. They will struggle all the way back to where they came from. Andile Mbeyane may score enough goals to win himself a new contract in the PSL for next season.

it's not how you start the marathon but how you finish the race. For me, i predict Ajax to be the dark horse but because of small boys in the team, they wont win the league, they need experience especially for the final third of the league season. i also think this Q thing will make the team to be more inconsistent.

Ajax s boardroom politics are distabilising the whole team

Very good predictions Molefe, Chiefs being the main contenders for the title. Downs will be lucky to finish in the top 4 but you can never rule out Pirates but their highest they can go this season is 3rd and if they get rid of Njenje sooner the might have to settle for 2nd.

I don't dispute your relegation candidates mainly but I would take out Chippa and replace with Celtic

One team that will not win the PSL is Kaizer Chiefs FC....They can't depend on counter-attack the whole season...mark my words....

Your words will be marked for sure

Amazulu wont be relegated!!!!!!!

Pirates:

They will fire the coach after a good 5 games and we will get a coach with vision and winning mentality and we will compete for the league honors yet again.

Relegation:

Chippa United for Straight relegation and then Golden Arrows to the play offs!

Good analysis but one thing for sure, Cheifs will not win the league IMO because

1. No PSL coach has ever won the league in his first season in the PSL and i'm not convinced Baxter can break that record

2. Chiefs bought well defensively but have always been good in that department, so this will change absolutely nothing in the long run

3. Chiefs has no dept in their attack, if Shabba and Yeye can be injured, the attack wise they are very avarage and lack inspiration that Shabba seems to bring, on or off form.

Chiefs can only win under this circumstances if Pirates and Sundowns faulter, not because of their (Chiefs) strength.

Sundowns

depending on how they deal with the current crisis and whether the coach can come to his senses and start taking other teams seriously, then they must just like previously flatter to deceive but end up empty handed. but their situation is dependent on those few factors which if corrected, should easily walk away with the title with 2 games to spare

Pirates

Even though they have a weak bench, if by game number 25 they still have a sniff of the title, with the experience they have, they will be difficult to stop from achieving a treble. for them the start or middle of the campaign is not crucial, the last round is and if they have a sniff of it, Lekgwati will again carry them to teh trophy.

SSU

Will be very dangerous, they must not be allowed to seat on top because that will be teh end of it. knowing Hunt, he will accept a 2 points from th above 3 knowing that he can collect from the other teams and that might just be enough to carry them through.

I meant to say "No foreign coach" has ever won the lleague in his first season in the PSL.

There is always a first time for everything and Baxter will be the man to change the books

We shall wait and see Riskin

Supersport stands a better chance of winning this league......you can go back to my analysis at the beginning or prior to the league start how i tipped Pirates and SS to battle it out..now with Pirates battling with their form SS seemed to have a much stable team compared to the other contenders.....well with Pirates they need a coach who will come in and hit the ground running, for me Pitso can be a better choice, they wont be any reading of playing personnels...i think he has even drafted the Pirates starting eleven more than 20 times in his spare time......by my fear is by the time the Pirates management act on this matter we would have already lost more points and sadly the team would be badly shaped...so we need to do corrections now..

Good analysis Wonder and my money is definetely on Sundowns.
